Mommy Juice: Strawberry Lemonade Spritzers

In the summer, I’m always looking for refreshing, delicious drinks. I have a few favorite summer cocktails but this summer, being pregnant, I’ve been determined to find a few mocktails that make the season feel just as good. I am a huge fan of flavored lemonade and spritzers. So, I figured why not combine them and find the very best strawberry lemonade spritzer to add to my summer drink list. And, what a perfect drink to add to our Mommy Juice Series!  Here’s a little reminder about this series:

We took a lighthearted approach in creating our Mommy Juice series. Along with loving the term, we hope this group of posts will help fellow moms to sit back, unwind, and enjoy a cocktail. We have a deep love for mocktails, as well, so this series is sure to have something for everyone. After all, we absolutely love enjoying a favorite drink with a great friend. So, here’s to you, girl! Cheers!

Today’s Mommy Juice Pick: Strawberry Lemonade Spritzer

The Recipe: I scoured Pinterest, and when I only found one recipe similar to what I was looking for, I also adapted one and created one myself.  I wanted to taste test spritzers with varying ingredients to figure out which I loved. Knowing how crazy days can get in the summer, I also wanted something I could easily throw together with ingredients I regularly have on hand.

Why We Picked This Mix: It’s summertime and there’s almost nothing as refreshing as a strawberry lemonade spritzer. Also, it’s the perfect season for beautiful, tasty strawberries.

I have placed the drinks in order from our most favorite concoctions to our least. But, the individual rankings should help you find the drink that best fits your taste.

The Jelly Bean Journals Scale:

0 = No Spice Here; 1 = A Little Zing; 2 = Now That’s a Kick;  3 = Yeah, Too Hot for My Mom!

0 = No Flavor Here;  1 = A Little Taste; 2 = Now I Can Taste It; 3 = Yeah, That’s Flavorful!

0 = No Sweetness Here;  1 = A Little Tart; 2 = Now I Got it Sweety; 3 = Yeah, Sugar, Sugar!

0 = No Garnish Here; 1 = A Little Extra; 2 = Now I Can See Them; 3 = Yeah, There They Are!

Alcohol Strength

0 = No Alcohol Here; 1 = A Little BOOze; 2 = Now We’re Talkin’; 3 = Yeah, Baby

Spritzer #1 – Fruitcake Raspberry Lemonade Spritzer

This is the recipe I adapted. Anywhere you see raspberry, replace with strawberry. I muddled two strawberries instead of four raspberries. Otherwise, all portions remained the same.

 Spice: 0 = No Spice

Flavor: 3 = Yeah, That’s Flavorful!

Sweet: 2 = A Little Tart

Garnish: 2 = Now I Can See Them

Alcohol Strength: 0 = No Alcohol Here (Duh, it’s a Mocktail!)

Noteworthy: This drink is SO refreshing! The Limonata and the fresh lemon juice give it a real lemon pop. So much so, that it out-shined the strawberries just a little bit. This is the drink I will use the rest of the summer. Yum!!!

Spritzer #2 –

Strawberry Lemonade Spritzer by Kerstin Ellis

Seano and I make cranberry spritzers all of the time with cranberry juice, 7UP and lime. They are simple to throw together and we almost always have the ingredients on hand. I decided to create my own strawberry lemonade spritzer based on the same concept. Muddle three strawberries in bottom of glass; fill 1/2 cup with prepared lemonade (I used Country Time); fill 1/4 cup with 7Up; fill remainder of glass with ice; garnish with lemon and strawberry.

Spice: 0 = No Spice

Flavor: 2 = Now I Can Taste It!

Sweet: 2 = Now I Got It Sweety!

Garnish: 2 = Now I Can See Them

Alcohol Strength: 0 = No Alcohol Here (Duh, it’s a Mocktail!)

Noteworthy: The 7Up adds the kind of bubbly feature I love in a spritzer (the kind I may get from champagne when I’m not pregnant). But, it also overtakes the lemonade a bit. Next time, I might try adding some fresh lemon juice to this recipe to add that lemon kick.

Spritzer #3 – Dine & Dash Strawberry Lemonade Spritzer

This recipe called for making a big batch so I cut everything to a 1/4 for taste testing and it still worked.

Spice: 0 = No Spice

Flavor: 1 =A Little Taste

Sweet: 1 = A Little Tart

Garnish: 0 = No Garnish Here

Alcohol Strength: 0 = No Alcohol Here (Duh, it’s a Mocktail!)

Noteworthy: Although the strawberry came through the most in this drink, I think the club soda really flattens the taste of this spritzer. This was also the most difficult to throw together since it required using a blender. However, I still enjoyed the taste.

I hope you enjoy these refreshing, summery spritzers! Let us know if you have a favorite recipe!  If you liked this post, sip on these, next:
