I asked and you delivered! This is one of my favorite Jelly Bean Journals series and this time the True Toddler Fashion on display is from your tiny self-dressers! Brace yourself for a repeat venture of a project I shared with you back in 2015 and then, again, with round two just this past May. I had asked if any of you would be up for sharing your own renditions of True Toddler Fashion, and boy did you deliver! Let’s go with part three of “TTF” where we explore and celebrate the true, self-created style of our toddlers!
There are a couple of posts I want to make sure I write for, or about, both of my kiddos. This is one of those and it falls on the lighter side of things. Brace yourself for a repeat venture of a project I shared with you all back in 2015. (Yeah…2015…my dear goodness! TWO years ago?! Anyway…) Enter “True Toddler Fashion” where I explore the true, self-created style of a toddler!
As I shared in “Loving Life with a Toddler: The Things I Most Appreciate Today” I was extremely surprised by how deeply I loved being the mom of a toddler. I must say that I have a completely different relationship with our little girl, Baby B, than with our little boy, Kiddo A, but I’m just as fond of her toddler stage. She regularly leaves me missing the two-year-old version of the boy who made me a mom and I delight in watching her explore, develop, and acquire knowledge.
Baby B is quick to Continue reading
I know I’m not shocking any of you when I say that we are big holiday people. Well, more accurately, I am a big holiday person. I always go overboard and have been working on scaling back to a more reasonable level. I will always have special treats and traditions for my family around the holiday, but maybe, just maybe they don’t need quite so many. Continue reading
Each autumn we trim our Russian Sage, or Perovskia Atriplicifolia, nearly to the ground. We do this to keep our plants healthy and thriving. Let me tell you, it works like a charm and these beauties bloom a gorgeous purple all through the following summer. Their aroma reminds me of hearty sage and they are loved by bumble bees. On hot afternoons our fence sounds like a buzzing electric line because of the busy pollinators working from one tiny flower to the next. Continue reading
It’s that time of year! Time for swimming and sunning and I can’t wait! Our summer has been Continue reading
Well, friends, it’s official. We have put out our very first vlog. You will notice that Chelse is pregnant in this project and that is because this little clip was filmed a year ago! It has taken some courage, processing, and plenty of editing time to prepare this video. Writing and posting pictures is one thing, but the act of looking at and listening to ourselves has pushed our boundaries. We weren’t even sure that this vlog would ever make it to you, but we decided to practice what we preach and live in the moment. Hey, there’s no place to go but up from here! (This is where we ask for your love and acceptance of our amateur vlogging skills!) If nothing else, we hope you can share in our friendship and giggle a little with us.
Picking the subject of our first vlog was much easier than pressing the “share with everybody” button. We struggled through the process of potty training Kiddo A and N around the same time and our stories are intertwined. We decided to tell those tales together and share some ideas for other parents working on potty training. We didn’t want to be another of those self proclaimed “potty training miracle” videos, so we intentionally shared the things we each tried in a conversation style clip. We hope that providing a little encouragement and maybe a new idea or two with others working to get their toddler to do their business without soiled undies will be just the ticket. Enjoy and be sure to share your tips and tricks with others in the comments.

The chances of celebrating a “White Easter Sunday” are pretty strong where I live. Growing up, I hunted for Easter eggs in the snow after church! It’s likely that my children will celebrate Easter this way, as well. Because of this, I often struggle to find weather appropriate outfits for the spring time that are suitable for my kiddos. I've come up with a FUN project that I would love to do with all of you! Help me complete the True Toddler Fashion Part II project! Make sure your little person picks their own attire, snap a photo, and then submit it to us here at Jelly Bean Journals by emailing email@example.com or posting in the comments below. Now, read on for the rest of the story...
I am a four seasons girl! There are many things I love and appreciate about each one and if I lived somewhere warm year around, I’d miss the qualities each has to offer. The fall brings beautiful reds, yellows and oranges as the Aspen trees change colors and the chill in the air makes me want to throw on a sweatshirt with my flip flops. Heading into winter I’m always excited for ski season and adore cuddle time with my family. For a brief period during the spring, the beautiful rolling green hills make me feel like I live in Ireland. For me, summer is always about water. It’s about lake days, pool time, sprinklers, slip-n-slides, water tables, and squirt guns.
